Are you considering buying a mini road racing bike from south of the border? With the weak economy and CDN dollar near par there are very good deals to be had (see our for sale page). Hesitant to ship from the United States? The Motard shown in the pictures below came from the North Carolina and cost less than $250 to ship to Calgary. Let us tell you how…
It’s very difficult to find reasonable shipping rates taking into account the purchase price of these bikes is commonly less than $2500-5000. Above and beyond the costly shipping rates it’s almost always compulsory to have them crated. To make things even more difficult U-Ship and other similar carriers who offer the most competitive rates will not ship motorcycles across the border. That being said, they will deliver to certain US hubs (i.e. Seattle, Missoula, etc) where you can pick it up, clear customs and drive it home.
If you rather have the bike delivered to your door and you’re not concerned about EVER registering the American bike in Canada, consider shipping it in several separate boxes labeled “used motorcycle parts”. Most of these bikes are very simple to breakdown and box up. This is unquestionably additional work for the seller, however, many eager and willing sellers exist right now. Another benefit of having the bike show up in parts is that it gives you the opportunity to inspect and review the bike if great detail while assembling. In all likelihood you’ll catch anything that requires some more attention before hitting the track.
Note that your experience may differ. You should always exercise your own due diligence before purchasing and shipping a bike. Best of luck!

ANOTHER TZ85 PROJECT |
|
|
I bought this basket case TZ 125 chassis and am installing a CR 85 engine
Started to fit up the engine with the brackets I got with the bike. Lets just say there a little rough around the edges but I think they'll get the job done for mock up. Once I'm satisfied with final engine placement I'll make a new clean set. The engine fitting is on hold until I get a few bushings for the frame that were missing.
Tore the "Freshly built" CR 85 engine down to have a look cause I don't trust anything used. Rod bearing was spot on and crank end play was perfect. Wow it really was freshly rebuilt and actually done right. The cylinder is clean with a nice cross hatch hone and new Honda single ring piston. I'm gonna check the squish this week and then reassemble with new gaskets. I may have to remove the kick start assembly and modify the clutch cover though if I need to raise the engine any more. I also need to weld up the original water pump out put cause I don't trust the way the last guy sealed it up (Silicone).
It has a Brembo front brake master cylinder and 4 pot caliper up front and a standard Nissan 2 pot out back. Rotors checked out but I do need to look into the front brakes as it has 2 stainless lines under one banjo bolt going from the master to the caliper??? ??? I think who ever put this thing together just did not have the correct banjo bolt and packed it out with 2 lines cause the one end has 5 or 6 washers stacked in it.
The body work is brand new and will get a sweet Silver/black/Orange paint scheme once the tank is finished. It's that pink stuff in the back round of one of the pics. The body work alone is worth more than what I have into this whole project so far
Gonna place an order tomorrow for some springs for a 100lb rider along with a slew of other miscellaneous parts to get this thing going. Should be a fun bike once it's all done |

| "OK" We haven't started our NSR100 project yet but this guy has. |
FORMULA SUPERSPORT
Currently have a G Craft radial caliper adapter with a Brembo radial caliper, a braking 220mm rotor, Brembo 16x18 radial master cylinder, Hurricane clip ons, and Regaspeed preload adjusters (not installed) on the front of the bike.
On the back it has a Braking 150mm (I believe) rotor, a G Craft Brembo 2 piston caliper mount, Brembo 2 piston crab caliper, I am waiting for my Ohlins shock to arrive |
I finally got the engine brackets and exhaust for the NSR a few weeks ago, and to my disappointment they were not a direct bolt on like everything had been so far. It was probably because of all of the bragging I had been doing about all of the parts fitting so well.
Today I finally had the time to take a look at what needed to be done. I began mounting the engine, and after about 2 hours and a lot of tedious cutting and grinding It finally went together.
It's a tight fit and there is no way in hell I am going to be able to get the spark plug out with out removing the engine. I ended up cutting off quite a few small tabs and brackets, but whatever mounts to them can easily be relocated.
There is also no way I am getting a 28mm Keihin FCR in there, but it's ok.....it'll save me a little money.
The exhaust fit really well, and wasn't nearly as difficult to mount as the engine.
Now I need to get started on the bodywork.........more on that to come |

| BUILDING MINI GP BIKES |
|
Take a Honda RS or Yamaha TZ 125, pull the motor, engineer a kit to install a Motocross 85 cc engine and you have the ultimate Mini Road Race Bike. Both these bikes will compete on the small tracks and on the big tracks. The bikes are designed to switch engines from the 85cc to 125 GP spec in less then an hour. Both bikes remain stock with no frame mods or cutting, all the work is in the 85 engine cases. This is the best stepping stone from Mini Road Racing to full size Road Racing you can build, "running the same bike on both tracks what a concept". |

36 year old Steves 1993 RS 125 with the 02 CR85 engine fitted in the frame, soon to be sent off to Edmonton to get the custom built pipe and silencer. |

15 year old Matts 1994 TZ 125 with the 02 YZ 80 is not quite as close to being done, but will also be fitted for the pipe and will compete in the 05 season.. |

As you can see some work had to be done to the cases to fit this motor cleanly in the RS frame
|

With the YZ engine in place for proper fitting, mounts will be made to accomidate this little screamer.
|

As you can see we picked the right guy for these projects, Thanks to the talented Jim Titimus! look how clean this set up looks.
|

The TZ will take a little more work to install the engine, but in the end it will look like a factory job as well.gotta love a good machinists.

Keep in mind this is not a new thing to mini racing and is the dream child of 16 year veteran of mini road racing member Angus MacNeil. Angus has been committed to this sport for over a decade and is a firm believer of graduated race bikes make better racers, Angus calls this his dream come true years, Finally a few Canadians understand his theory about the importants of running these bikes in both small and big track configurations. Wait to you see how fast some of our members become.

Andrew McLeans Formula 50 NSR50RR
Andrew was one of the first to find out these bikes were to be imported to Canada and has waited a long time to build this project. Now Andrew would not indulge all the modifications on this little rocket but the following is what we did get out of him |

The bike has a 62cc big bore kit with I'm sure some fancy porting along with this aftermarket reed cage and a 28 mil carb. Aparently some head work still must be done. Rumor has it there is a new internal fly wheel kit as well. |

Along with the engine mods is this aftermarket pipe and silencer, We heard this little bike run and it doesn't even start to rev until the factory tach is off the chart. We will have to see if we can get this thing on a dyno to compare it to a stock NSR |

An Olins rear shock updates the suspension, Andrew is in the process of sourcing out Olins front inverted forks to finish off the front end.
|

With aftermarket foot pegs and this hot looking alluminum swing arm, you get the feeling Andrew has not been concerned with a budget when biulding this bike
|

To stop all this new power is a Nissin front brake lever and master cylinder as well as a braided front brake line.
|

Andrew says his project is far from finished and next is the club RCV bodywork and his own new paint scheme.
|
This is our clubs first modified NSR, but I'm sure not the last, Andrew's plan is to dominate the Formula 50 class. |
Keep in mind the NSR can run in the stock NSR series or be modified and run in the formula 50 series. |
What's Andrew up to now

Andrew was lucky enough to own the first 2004 NSR50RR in Canada Now he is lucky enough to own the first set of RCV211 Bodywork Brought to you by the AMRA |

All the pieces are being prepped for paint,The lower was missing the day we took the shots and Andrew was not willing to share much so the color will have to wait. |

The biggest surprise is the center mounted pipe. Custom built by Andrew himself.
|

What a shot, The work he does looks very professional. Hope you don't have to look this view at the track
|
|
|
The Bodywork runs the stock windshield to keep the pricing down. Check out the AMRA Bodywork page for pricing on this new exciting product.
|
The Bodywork looks great and this is the icing on the cake, but it is a very intensive mod. A big job. I think the the stock pipe will look good as well. More info to come |
THE YERBI

This is what you get when you take the light weight Derbi engine and install it in a YSR frame. |

The Calmari engine kit bolts right in and comes complete with a aftermarket carb and pipe. |

Along with alluminum sprockets this bike also has the very rare Daytona rims with Dunlop TT91 tires, a braced swing arm and the now obsolete Fox shock.
|

The owner Trevor worked a full year on this little project and searched out all the the aftermarket parts for this bike and ending up building a very cool little ride.
|
|
|
Check out the cool little Rad that comes with the kit. |
Trevor added the rare Cheeta bodywork to make the clubs first Yerbi. |
