CANADIAN NATIONAL MINI ROADRACING 4 RACE CMA CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ROUND #2 CALGARY

The AMRA is about to host two events at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario July 8 to 11 Western Canadian Mini Roadracing will be introduced to Eastern Canada on the Kart track along with the 8th round of the Honda CBR125R Cup

Under the direction of AMRA President, Jay Fox, and crew of Western Mini Roadracers, evening ‘demonstration style’ sessions will take place at the Mosport Go Kart Venue after the days events are completed at the main track.

Jay Fox states “Western Canadian Mini Roadracing is all about family. Want to link with your children, compete with them head to head on an equal playing field. Families that race together, win together.”
 
Practice sessions will take place Friday evening, with qualifying on Saturday for the main event, Round 8 of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship Honda CBR125R Challenge; Racing will take place on Sunday evening.
 
Registration for this event can be done during slow periods at the Parts Canada Superbike Championships Registration area or onsite Friday evening during the Practice session.

Along with over 60 Race Bikes,The Honda factory Trailer left our mini track June 28 loaded with 42, over 30 of them CBR125's
All 12 AMRA members racing in the CBR125 cup Mosport round will have all travel expenses including race fees covered by the AMRA
As well the AMRA has come up with another transport trailer ... Sending 22 more,
This will include AMRA members SV650 race bikes a 600 Amateur and so far one ZX10 Superbike racer, All are members and will be supported by the AMRA, Yahoo Support'n the big boys now!

2010 Parts Canada Superbike Challenge Double Header Rounds 2 & 3, Fox Family Roadracing ltd is the host promoter at Race City Speedway, Calgary Alberta, June 25 – 27.

Calgary's spectators are seated in stadium-style stands; however most of the racing action takes place outside the view from this seating arena.

For the first time at Race City Speedway COLOSSOVISION JUMBO TRON CREW will be onsite with live full track coverage. With four cameras and two 9”x 12’ Jumbo Screens you will see racing like never before at Race City Speedway!

Now Featuring Live Timing, interviews with racers and crew, and live action throughout the entire weekend.

Volunteer Appreciation Night
     The AMRA recognizes the fact that we rely heavily upon our volunteers and in fact could not run a single event without the efforts of the many people, who have tirelessly donated their time.  Through all kinds of weather and without complaining, these men and women have continually given up their sundays so that we, the recipients of their generousity, are able to go racing.   
      With this in mind, we are offering to them, the use of the AMRA demo bikes for a Volunteer Appreciation Night. Monday, May 3rd, at 5:30 pm, we are opening the gates to Varsity Speed Park, and offering a pre-ride meal,  our bikes and equipment at our expense, for any volunteer, who donated their time during the 2009 season.
      If you are one of these volunteers and are interested, we would love to have you attend this special monday event. You will have the use of a 'finely tuned' AMRA demo bike, leathers, etc and we will provide riding training, if you require.

City council votes to extend Race Citys lease until 2015

Reminder that the Annual Fall Endurance Race date will be held this weekend at the CKRC facility in Calgary Alberta. We will hold practice sessions in the morning, Racing to start at 1:00 pm.

Pre Registration is requested for all entrants and is required if you are intending to borrow a AMRA motorcycle

Rally for Race City

Calgary, AB (September 26, 2009) - Today will be the continuation of the
Motorsports Community, public awareness campaign on the perils of the forced premature closure of Race City Motorsports Park. A car rally will be held today, September 26, 2009 at 5:30 PM starting from the Home Depot parking lot at 6500 Macleod Trail SW and proceeding north to Downtown Calgary. This is not the first rally in support of Race City but it is expected to be the largest held to date.

The forced premature closure of Race City Motorsports Park will no doubt
result in increased Illegal Street Racing activity along with the other
unlawful activities that are associated with it. The "Secret Street" program
held at Race City Motorsports Park every Friday night, gives 175+ potential
street racers and 600+ of their friends the opportunity to enjoy their sub
culture in a safe and organized way without the ramification of racing on
City public streets.

As most of you are aware we ran a pre registration that closed today and we did not get enough members willing to travel this late in the year. This means we will have to cancell the event in Warburg this weekend. We will try to book another race date in Calgary to make up for this event: Please keep posted to the website.
 
We have been asked to send some bikes to Race City tomorrow evening at 6pm to show support for the track.
This is part of Friday night Drags so you could enter if you wanted. The price  is $5 to get in. There will be a lot of media so this would be good for the sport of mini roadracing. Thanks to anyone that can go and have a great time. From 6pm on, come on out and support the sport. Look for the trailor and join us there.

There is often a feeling of finalization when the race season ends, perhaps this year more than in the past eight seasons the AMRA has been racing at the Kart track in Calgary. We have come a long way from the beginning, from a small localized group doing laps around the track, to members across western Canada and a running Provincial and National series!
WE ARE NOT DONE YET ! The 2009 season still has three big events left:

  • First this Sunday September 20 Calgary Kart Track Provincial Round #5
  • Second Sunday September 27 Warburg AB Provincial Round #6
  • Final Event October 04 The AMRA Fall Classic Three Hour Endurance

City Council is looking for a reason to extend the lease on Race City. So a good turn out would be great for our future! Lets show the City that Calgarians are actively using these facilities.

City Council to vote on Motion regarding Race City.

Aldermen McIver and Connelly have a motion before City Council that will be voted on during the Council meetingon Monday November 3 or Tuesday November 4.  The motion basically asks Council to direct the City Administration to honour the existing lease they have with Race City.  This would give Race City the opportunity to continue to exist and keep Motorsport active in Calgary.  ...if it passes.
I would ask that you, as a user of this facility, email your local alderman for your business or home and ask them to support this motion,  and explain the affect of the loss of this facility on your business or life.

The motion does not ask for anything not already granted by the City

I think our Aldermen need to recognize that their constituents are affected if Race City is forced to close. These are the Emails for the Ward offices:

Sunday October 12 The AMRA was honored to host our 7th annual Fall endurance race, Historically 7 years after marking the first day of our first event on the Varsity Kart Track which we owe a part of our present success to, A Huge Thanks Giving Turkey dinner feeding more then 70 participants with all the fixings just like the first event back in 2001,
 
In the morning 23 weather chilled teams lined up for the riders meeting, Canadian Superbike fans were surprised to meat up with familiar faces in the pits, including 3 of the 2008 top 5 Canadian Superbike stars. Western Canadian Mini Roadracing Superstar Brett McCormick teamed with his Dad Grant and Chris Peris, challenging local racers Clint McBain his son Cody Matichuk and Peter holzinger, AMRA's Mini Racing lets Mini race cause it's to fun, 7 time Canadian superbike retired champion Don Munroe teamed up with Alberta regional Track record holder Dave Stokowski came out to have some mini roadrace competitive fun.

This Sunday October 19/08 is the final make up event for the June 15 weather cancelled round #4,

The weather looks to be the same as last Sunday's Endurance event, (Great fall racing weather) with our best turn out ever in 7 years of endurance racing, so don't let the early morning chill turn you off.
Several titles are on the line and will be decided Sunday afternoon, (points are attached)

Gates open at 9am with morning practice and racing till 5pm.

This Sunday (October 12) the AMRA will host the 7th Annual Fall Classic AMRA/ CMRA Fall 3 hr Endurance race.

This year there will be three challenges within the endurance race

  •  First the overall winner
  • New for this year  the Industry challenge
  • And the Family fun endurance challenge.

  Don Munroe, Chris Peris, JR MacRae and Cody Matechuk are rumored to be coming out and we have confirmation from Brett and Grant McCormick, along with Bodie and Devon Edie, 4 of the fastest Mini Roadracers ever. Redline Motosports; Blackfoot Motosports, Sietzco and Bow Cycle are a few of the Industry teams challenging each other at this weekend’s event!

 Wednesday Evening October 8: The Club bikes need some maintenance and tire changes before this weekend’s endurance event . We will be doing this at the track during the test & Tune event, once done, helpers are welcome to get  on the track for some free track time!

 

Bring the Kids! There will also be Youth 7 to 10 and Novice 1 hr Endurance Race

AMRA's October Fall Classic 3 hour endurance race. we supply the bikes, Kawasaki KLX 125, Suzuki Dr125, Yamaha TTR125, Honda CRF100's Honda- NSR50,s with 3 racers on each team. New 2008 Demo riders only, no club racers for this one. "Believe me we could load the team!"This will be a seperate challenge that will run within the AMRA endurance race but pointed separately

This one is for all the Marbles along with one annual large trophy Winners must have trophy on site for the 2009 Spring endurance event where it will be all up for grabs again.

We have just been informed that we are able to access Race City at 5 pm Wednesday instead of the original time of 9 pm for the Airfence set up. As this is a direct conflict for those of you whom wish to participate in Wednesdays Test & Tune we are able to offer an alternate practice session on Thursday night. We want to reward those of you whom are willing to help.
Thursdays practice session will be free for anyone who helped set up Wednesday. Demo rides will also be available for anyone who does not have a bike but came out to help!
Let me or Jay know if are able to come down to Race City at 5 pm to help set up the air fencing!

 This Week end the AMRA will host the Third round of the CNMRA National Mini Roadracing Series and the new GRC Canadian Cup, Following Regina's very successful and well run Round 2 last weekend, 
 
 Firstly June 25/08 Wednesday evening after the weekly Test & Tune we will be helping the Canadian Superbike Crews install the Airfences at Race City, VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Weekend perks will be added to all that come out. Angus and motorcycle Tire Service to BBQ for all helpers as well Please email Berna if you can make it. amra@shaw.ca
 Friday morning Shaw TV will be at Varsity Speed PArk for filming at 10:00 am. Everyone Welcome! We need riders, hopefully a few kids (any ladies?) to help promote what the AMRA and mini roadracing is all about!. Shaw will interview a few racers and take some live action footage. 

Thursday evening we will be moving into the track, and set up for the weekend will start, Banners and tents need to be up for Friday evening.

Fathers Day with the AMRA a great time for the Dads with Old School Clash Class style.

The small turn out allowed organizers the opportunity to train volunteers for the CNMRA National and the GRC Cup taking place at the end of June. While racers had a great time running head to head with other spec machines and a few fun races. Sunday held some of the greatest racing of the year with a ' just a few friends getting together' atmosphere.

Needed: results and timing persons-minimum three,

Booth persons- as many as possible to allow for shifts to cover the booth,
Sales persons-to sell t-shirts, wristbands, ect at booth,
Ladies training program- volunteers needed to meet and greet ladies and escort through Motorcycle Show after there training session,
Track set-up and tear down- self explanatory
  • Are you able to help at Calgary, Edmonton or both ?  
  • Calgary- we need help setting up Thursday and tearing down Monday.
Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and event pass.

It's official The first round of the 2007 Pitster Pro Canadian Mini Roadracing National Series will be held at Vancouver's famed F440 Track, April 15/07 The f440 race track is the largest in the lower mainland. It is a half mile (over one kilometer) long. It has 17 very different and challenging corners to test even the most experienced Racers. Of course we all know the AMRA is where to go to engage in a contest of speed but do you know who your rivals are?Now we are going to give you the chance to know your rivals up close and personal! We are going to introduce the new riders bio page to the AMRA’s website; Rider Profiles

Please email me your profile to be posted on the website.  What we need is a picture of you, preferably with your bike, your name, age (optional) and the type of bike(s) you ride.  If you want to get in the minds of your rivals before diving in on that first corner send me your racing accomplishments as well.  Oh yeah, don’t forget those sponsors and have fun with it!! Please don’t hesitate to get your profile in; like everything else in the AMRA, your involvement is what makes it such a huge success!

Saskatoon Steps Up Again

Thinking of going to Vancouver April 15 for the first round round of the 2007 National Mini Roadracing Series. The Saskatoon Club is and in a large Truck, so to help defray costs They would like to offer anyone from Edmonton area, Transportation of their bikes and gear from Edmonton to the race and back. Looking for 3 or possibly 4 bikes to
pick up and the cost would be $150.00 per bike to help pay for fuel. This
way they could possibly use airmiles and fly out and back and have a
relaxing weekend, and if they did I could possibly pick them up at the
